We have seen global temperatures rise and this year, and the weather's gone wonky with many places experiencing suddent drops in temperature in Spring. (Someone just told me it's still snowing in certain places...)  

And people are dying.

There is something we can do though. There has been a movement going on and it goes by many different names. We started with the 3Rs Mantra of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in the 90s. Recently, the message is taken to be more personal: making sure each of us leaves a Zero Carbon or Carbon Neutral footprint. 

That means that you make amends to replace in nature, what you produce in carbon dioxide and waste every year. And there is ONE way to do that: That is to plant a tree (or many trees) to be able to put more oxygen and remove more carbon dioxide from our atmosphere.



Planting trees which are meant for reforestation or for agroforestry (planting trees as agriculture) can have many benefits. Urban planting creates natural natural traps for noise and air pollution and cleans the city air.  Planting trees in developing countries in Africa and Asia curb the rapid deforestation that is going on from miners clearing forests to mine for metals or minerals, or from loggers searching for more wood for construction, furniture and paper. When the trees are gone, the land stops growing, and people cannot get their food and livelihood from nature.



Trees provide natural shade to grow more crops, leaf fall creates more fertile soil. trees hold the soil together to avoid being flushed away, and trees provide oxygen to our atmosphere. Trees bring hope to the people who rely on the trees to rejuvenate their barren land, and hope to our children of a future where nature still thrives.
